Primary Bath Rebuild After a Long-Running Leak
A tub-shower on failed green board replaced with a tiled walk-in shower over a flood-tested pan, plus replacement of two rotted floor joists.

The ceiling stain in the room below had been there long enough that the homeowners had painted over it twice. When we opened the wall we found the shower had been tiled directly onto green board and the water had been running down the studs for years. Two joists under the shower had rot deep enough that they came out with a pry bar.
We sistered new joists in, rebuilt the floor, and set a sloped mortar pan with a bonded sheet membrane over cement board. The pan held water overnight with no drop against the tape mark, which the homeowners came up and checked themselves before we set any tile.
The finished room is a curbless walk-in with a linear drain, a recessed niche, and a 110 CFM fan ducted out through the gable wall. Old bath fan had been dumping into the attic directly above the insulation.
